Lime & Vinegar
A stereotype-fearing South American immigrant and her innocent co-worker turn a disastrous workday into a journey of self-discovery, proving that sometimes, life’s messes can’t be cleaned without a little creativity.
Daniela has been cleaning houses for a while now. After teaching herself English via American Pop culture, her arrival in the States took her from being a gigging musician in South America to what she feared the most: a stereotype.
When she’s paired up to clean a house in Venice Beach with Lorena, a newbie, she reluctantly guides her through her first day, not without locking her in a closet as some sort of initiation ceremony.
As it's the anniversary of her parent's death, she slowly lets her guard down at the child-like attitude of her new co-worker.
But things start going sideways when their ride breaks down, and they’re stranded at the house. Bored and curious, they keep sharing experiences about their new life in the US, how catcalling in their countries felt like a strange validation, and how, for both of them, making art is the dream that pushes them forward. Not before, of course, making a huge hole in the wall.
Afraid of being fired, Daniela calls her addict nepo baby boyfriend to help them fix it, and he brings his enabling, drunk best friend. They crash the liquor cabinet, try to steal the home’s prescription drugs, and Daniela kicks them out.
Depressed through chocolates and wine, Daniela and Lorena face the self-discovery they’ve been relentlessly running away from and realize that maybe the best way to fix a hole is with the art that’s been within them all along.
