You will never look at a horse the same way. Mainly because looking is not seeing. And this is precisely the theme of this documentary: an invitation to seeing.
In Visions in the Dark, the relationship between horses and trainers is a metaphor to demonstrate how our disconnection from nature has led us to contemporary blindness. Limited to our perspective, we lost touch with intuitive ways of communication, narrowing our vision.
But a new path was carved by those who dared to see differently. We will follow Monty Roberts, the creator of a non-violent training method based on silent body language, with his head instructor, Denise Heinlein, as they challenge traditions in breathtaking landscapes such as California, Pampas, and Patagonia. We will also meet communication specialists such as Denis Connolly, the director of the School of Looking in Paris, and the writer Yoko Tawada, joining a conversation about the limits and possibilities of languages for human understanding and authentic connections.
Visions in the Dark intends to recover our ability to see the world for the first time. Because reconnecting with nature is reconnecting with ourselves. And the closer we get, the further we see.
