For the past half century, we've been warned about the potential impacts of climate change, but little action has been taken. Now those impacts are here, and in 2018, a small group of British activists decided to declare rebellion and force governments to act. In the years since, the group's potent message of societal collapse combined with their tactics of non-violent civil resistance have birthed a worldwide movement that's now in more than 80 countries, but it's also faced daunting challenges around issues of leadership, a pandemic and the complex politics of our neocolonial world.
